Just like humans, Shih Tzus also feel boredom. Carolina Rocha, a veterinarian specializing in animal behavior, warns that leaving the same toy with the Shih Tzu until it wears out is one of the most common mistakes made by owners.
“Novelty is a very important factor, so it’s interesting to rotate toys every month,” she points out. The specialist also lists the most common mistakes when leaving the Shih Tzu alone at home:
1- Quiet House
When leaving, leave the radio or television on a regularly tuned channel.
2- Darkness
Keep lighting points in the house, either with natural light or with lamps turned on.
3- Poorly Ventilated Environment
If it stays in a room in the house all day, leave windows partially open to circulate air.
4- Not Taking Advantage of Moments
If you work close to your home, spend time with the Shih Tzu for at least 10 minutes at lunchtime.
5- Entire House Available
To keep the Shih Tzu indoors, it is ideal to close the doors of the bedrooms and kitchen to restrict access.
