A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in the Augusto Franco neighborhood on Thursday night as a Shih tzu dog tragically lost its life following an attack by a pitbull. The grim episode prompted the intervention of the Military Police, marking a distressing turn for the pet owner, Mônica dos Santos.
According to Santos, after closing her commercial establishment, she ventured out for an evening stroll with her beloved Shih-tzu. Tragically, their peaceful walk turned into a nightmare when they were pursued by a pitbull that had escaped from a nearby residence.
Faced with the sudden aggression, Santos desperately sought help on the street, but her calls for assistance went unanswered.
In the midst of the chaos, the distraught owner, trying to shield her pet from the pitbull’s attacks, endured a harrowing fall that left her with injuries to one of her arms. Despite her courageous efforts, the Shih-tzu succumbed to the injuries sustained during the vicious encounter and tragically passed away at the scene.
